Hermínio Matos

Assistant Professor at the Higher Institute of Police Sciences and Internal Security (ISCPSI) and Visiting Professor at the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences – Lisbon University (Postgraduate Studies in “Intelligence and Security”). Member of both Scientific and pedagogic Council of ISCPSI. 

Scientific Coordinator of the Counterterrorism Course  (ISCPSI).

Permanent Researcher at the Higher Institute of Police Sciences and Internal Security (ISCPSI). Associate Researcher at the Military University Institute (CISD-IUM) where he also is a Member of the editorial and Scientific board of the Military Sciences Journal, and Associate Researcher at the CIJVS – Joaquim Veríssimo Serrão Research Center.

PhD in History, Defence and International Relations from University Institute of Lisbon, ISCTE-IUL (2015). Holds a Master degree in History, Defence and International Relations from University Institute of Lisbon, ISCTE-IUL (2008) and a B.A. in Anthropology from the same University (ISCTE-IUL, 2006).

National Defence Course from the National Defence College (Defence Ministry, 2010).

Main Areas of Research: Terrorism & Counterterrorism; Internal Security Systems; International Security; Intelligence (HUMINT) and Intelligence Services; Anthropology of Crime and Violence; Transnational Organized Crime.
